Ask anyone who had ridden Hardknott Pass and they’ll give you a facial expression that let’s you know that it is tough, whatever they may actually be saying, their facial expression should be telling you what you need to know. It’s 30% gradient is followed by a treacherous steep winding descent, which leads to the 25% ascent of Wrynose Pass….. are you getting the idea?
The route is 113 miles (182km), oh and did we mention the other climbs? Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, and Blea Tarn passes …. all pretty tough by the way. 3,300 metres of climbing since you asked. You’ll be able to tick off a few of Britain’s best cycle climbs, but you may not feel like cycling the next day!
