Twenty women contested the first race in Series Six of West London VR, out of 142 starters, West London VR is the big women’s cycling event on RGT, it has a unique formula and gives women a great chance to race in big peletons against similar level racers of both sexes, whilst competing with the other women in the race. The formula enables women to score extra points against the other female racers by beating male riders in sprints …. it is innovative and unique, it’s the West London VR Ladies League, number one for women’s cycling on RGT.
We are also delighted to announce that our results software has been upgraded to incorporate this formula (thanks Wouter) so that the Ladies League Standings will now be available instantly after each race CLASSIFICATIONS HERE
Caroline Reuter was the first female finisher in race 6.1 but Judith Newton was just behind, keeping the points difference to just one point … 100 for Caroline and 99 for Judith. Current champion Ellen Lockett was having some surgery in hospital on the day, and won’t be riding the early races. She’s in good shape we understand and raring to go when she returns. Remember, your best six results count in Ladies League so get some good results in whilst she’s not here!
However, storm clouds are gathering and the series is under threat from RGT, who are clashing their own events against the Independent Organisers who have served this community over the years. RGT have have no input into promoting our series, nor have they done anything to encourage women’s cycling.
WE ARE CLEARLY STATING THAT WE ARE NOT PREPARED TO STAY ON RGT IF THEY CONTINUE TO BEHAVE UNACCEPTABLY LIKE THIS. WE ASK EVERYONE TO SUPPORT OUR RACES OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS TO SEND A CLEAR MESSAGE TO RGT THAT RGT SHOULD WORK WITH ORGANISERS AND NOT AGAINST THEM.
