The Ladies League has got off to a fascinating start with Caroline Reuter (RIAK) and Judith Newton (West London VR) both getting a win each over the first two races. Holly Larson from the USA is just behind them in the standings. looking down the list there are some of the best characters on the scene, with great names including Laura Whittingham, Wendy ‘Wonderwheels’ Gallagher, Danielle Gaunt, Maria Witzke, Shona Fraser, Lisa West, Lynda Van Dyk, Judy Frankel and our very own Lisa Snell. Gail Robinson has only done one race as have a few others, and this contest is about your best six results, so anyone can catch up with the leaders, so look out for Jessica Hawthorn, Gesine Junker, Karen Bailey, Serena Ace, Nara Chauffe, Chantal Mendes, Annika Caers, Jessica Wight and Hanna Paice. Indeed, with another 11 races to go there are opportunities still for new riders to join and make a name for themselves. And remember that current champion Ellen Lockett hasn’t raced yet due to surgery.
As we have said, only the best six results count and the winning woman in each race is awarded 100 points. Consequently, it is conceivable that two riders could both end up with 600 points. If so, the tiebreaker will be the total points scored, such that the rider who has done the most races is likely to win.
West London VR and RIAK currently lead the Ladies League Teams Competition.
