West London VR Equalized E-Race EER1 is on Monday 21st November at 7.30pm UK Time …. fancy your chances on a level playing field?

Whether you are a gifted and strong rider, or maybe not dealt the best cards by mother nature, with West London VR and CADEsport you can now race on equal terms. It’s gonna be who works the hardest on the day. This is exciting and gives weaker riders a chance to win whilst stronger riders can benefit from working hard to keep the matched challengers at bay ….. everyone wins really!

This is like a real-time handicap race and you will be thrilled as billed!

Just 10km long, we have switched on the ‘no crashing on corners’ feature for this race and set a slight easterly headwind to add a bit on interest. Set your power to Pro-Power when you join the race.

We are running Equalized Races on CADEsport regularly on Monday evenings at 7.30pm UK Time. There is no crashing on corners, everyone is equal, work hard to win and get fit in the spin. We intend to bring crashing in to races in the future, but let’s all get to know CADEsport first ….

Our Monday evening test races on CADEsport, are currently free but subscriptions will be required in the near future, so get in and try it now.

CADE is neither Zwift, nor RGT but will eventually overlap both and be a serious player in the online cycling market. But it has an abundance of its own characteristics and personality too, and we would pick out cornering and Equlaized Races as highlights for us so far.

We are currently running our races on a ‘no crash’ model whilst riders discover this exciting new platform, but we’d recommend you do a few solo rides to master it, it is actually quite good fun.

Where our races are catching people’s imagination is the Equalizer. Basically, every rider sets to the ProPower setting and, in effect, power is equalised and effort in what wins you the race. You should have seen Lisa Snell flying around the course on Monday 7th November to win convincingly! Well done Lisa.

This is about as good as handicap racing gets and makes for thrilling races. Give it a go on Monday 14th November at 7.30pm on Cade.

EQUALIZATION FORMULA INFO:

CADE keeps a 30 day rolling history of your critical power curves – your power PBs over every time interval – and maps it to the approximate level of a “pro” weighing about 70kg with an FTP of 350W. So once CADE has enough data of yours, an FTP effort will be shown as 350W in “pro power” mode and your road speed in game will match that wattage. Aside from skill, being “better” than someone else despite equalisation is usually down to either having a great day compared to others, or more often, being able to repeatedly hit your best efforts in one race or session (eg: hitting close to your best 1min effort five times in a race say). In this last respect, being “fitter” is rewarded, rather than being stronger, as per raw power racing.

With this in mind, we suggest that you do at least one solo CADE ride or other CADE event before taking part in an Equalized race. If you can’t, don’t worry, just come and enjoy the fun anyway …….
