David Tobin summed it up perfectly when he said after Race VEER3, ‘that’s why we are all here ….. to test CADE‘. Nothing in life would be fun if it stayed the same and always ended as expected. CADEsport is pushing the boundaries so that e-Racing advances and we are loving it.
But new things come with glitches, and those tales of woe become great memories and stories we reminisce about. Tonight’s VEER3 race didn’t go quite to plan as a server decided to have a hissy fit ….. some of us got in, some of us spat out, some back in with glitches … all it needed was Corporal Jones shouting ‘Don’t Panic’ to top off the exciting uncertainty.
You couldn’t have made it up, we had billed this as the race of crashes, assuming riders would be flipping themselves over on corners B-Boy style, but the spectacular crash came from a server.
We all had a great workout in the end, but as so many of us rejoined at different times, we didn’t get to race head to head and see each other crash properly ….. so we’re going to do the same course next week …….. RACE VEER4 Monday 12th December at 7.30pm on CADEsport

CADEsport are taking e-Racing to new levels, you can steer to choose your lane on the road, or take the inside of a bend. We have factored in a 2kph Westerly wind that will increase resistance when you turn into it, the race is equalized so that everyone has the same power output (choose Pro-Power when joining from the Lobby at the start) such that strong riders are challenged more (which is good for them) and the rest of us actually have a chance of winning …. anyone can win! It’s all about how hard you work.
But this will, almost certainly, be decided on how you master the braking on corners. Watch the speedometer at the bottom of your screen, if you go into the red zone on a bend, you’ll crash. We have found it best to brake just before the bend and accelorate out, but we all need to practice and master this new skill. The braking can be controlled from the Companion App on your phone or the Spacebr on your PC keyboard.

With steering, wind effect, crashing, braking and equalized power, this is soooh much more than a trip on the Hamster Wheel you may be currently enjoying. Time to step out of your comfort zone here though, and here’s why:
- If you go too fast into corners you will crash and lose a few seconds time delay. You need to master the braking.
- You can steer around other riders and choose your line with steering. You can force other riders into obstacles by hogging the line.
- A wind factor can be built in so that when riders turn into the wind the resistance becomes harder.
- We have set up our races for Equalized E-Racing so that every rider has pro-power and anyone can win. Natural power isn’t going to be enough, you need to work.
Let’s be honest, some of this is going to take you out of your cosy comfort-zone, but we’ve actually find it more exciting (well it can be frustrating too but that’s part of the fun) …. there are new challenges and skills to learn.
Are you still on a hamster wheel, or part of the CADEsport revolution?

We have set up another race for Monday 12th December at 7.30pm UK Time. It is 10km long with crashing on corners and, again, it is Equalized so that all riders have equivalent power. Set your power to Pro-Power as you join the race and choose ‘Playlist’ on the Audio options in order to chat with the other riders.
To join the race, in CADEsport, go to activities / races and scroll down to the West London Race OR go to Activities / Search and enter ‘West Londonn VR’.
Remember, we have now enabled crashing on corners so familiarise yourself with the braking and steering functions on CADEsport. You can attach your phone to your handlebars, move your phone directionally by hand, use the phone app controls or use your PC keyboard’s arrow keys for steering, whilst you can brake using the phone companion app or the spacebar on your PC..
