WEST LONDON CYCLING

West London and Chilterns Cycling … plus loads more

The weather forecasts for Sunday 11th December suggest that it is likely to be icy for much of the morning. We do not encourage riding in icy conditions and will make announcements on this website if there is a liklihood that Sunday’s ride at 9am from the Polish War Memorial is to be cancelled. There are alternative options:

  1. A LATER START – ALLOWING TIME FOR ICE TO MELT
  2. A MORE URBAN RIDE WHERE TEMPERATURES MAY BE HIGHER AT 9am
  3. AN INDOOR RIDE ON CADE AT 9am

We will announce any change of start time or change of route, so please keep an eye on this website, our Whatsapp and Facebook groups etc

An alternative route suggestion is the Tour de Hillingdon 77km but it may still require adaptation if the ice is particularly long lasting.

Tour de Hillingdon Route

We have, as a contingency, set up a 40km indoor ride for those with Smart Trainers. Please select Pro-Power so that riders are equalized and also select ‘Playlist’ in the audio selections so that we can all chat during the ride. Crashing on corners is a possibility, so a chance to practice cornering and discuss with clubmates, and not as painful as outdoor icy crashes. This has been set up as a ride not a race.

GET IN NOW, AND SEE FOR YOURSELF JUST HOW EXCITING THIS FORMAT IS. SIGN UP FOR SUNDAY 11th DECEMBER’s RIDE

We have this ride for Sunday 11th December at 9am UK Time. It is 40km long with crashing on corners and, again, it is Equalized so that all riders have equivalent power. Set your power to Pro-Power as you join the ride and choose ‘Playlist’ on the Audio options in order to chat with the other riders.

To join the race, in CADEsport, go to activities / races and scroll down to the West London Race OR go to Activities / Search and enter ‘West Londonn VR’.

Remember, we have now enabled crashing on corners so familiarise yourself with the braking and steering functions on CADEsport. You can attach your phone to your handlebars, move your phone directionally by hand, use the phone app controls or use your PC keyboard’s arrow keys for steering, whilst you can brake using the phone companion app or the spacebar on your PC.
