West London Cycling Festive 500: Day Four, a day for coffee ….

Hearing that Chiltern Velo was open over the holiday period led to a last minute detour to Chiltern Velo (thanks Martin Stone for letting us know) and the view in the sunshine was just the ticket, coffee and cake powering ourWest London Cyclonauts home.

PLEASE NOTE …. 9am WEDNESDAY 28th DECEMBER 22 (DAY FIVE) ROUTE CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER FORECAST …. due to rain predicted all day we’ve changed te route to the 47km CHICKEN RUN ROUTE

Having hardened ourselves up with the recent wet and cold spell, forecasts suggests that temperatures should be rising in time for the annual Festive 500 quest … 500km over 8 days from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve. We have set up rides for every day at the Polish War Memorial (A40 Ruislip / Northolt) and you can also complete the dustance using online rides …. in fact we have a fun CADEsport race on Boxing Day at 7.30pm UK Time in the evening.

BUT OF REAL IMPORTANCE, YOU CAN RAISE MONEY FOR DUCHENNE DISEASE RESEARCH BY DOING THE FESTIVE 500 (Whether you do our rides or your own, indoors and out)

We’ve had a lot of fun doing the Festive 500 and collecting the badges, only available if you do the Festive 500 with Harrison’s Fund these days (you only need to raise £100). We have set up 8 days of rides from the Polish War Memorial from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve … come along and join the throng!

Record your rides on Strava and the badge will be sent to you free of charge in January

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is relatively rare and, consequently, receives very little funding. It affects boys, all of whom will die before they are 20. We have been raising money for research this way for a while and we are pleased to say that there have been some recent medical breakthroughs. But there is still a long way to go. Harrison is a young boy with Duchenne Disease and the charity was set up by his father whom we were introduced to by Film Producer Nick Taussig who has two sons with Duchenne. These families go through a lot, so why not put yourself through it a bit between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and raise a £100 for charity (or more)? These rides are quite sociable, and we have rides set up from the Polish War Memorial every day …. Register now with Harrison’s Fund! … oh, and don’t forget that you get the collectible roundel too.
