Karl-Axel Zander Persson ‘dope ropes’ the front group for a classic win.

Last week football boss Gareth Ainsworth made his players watch a video of Mohammed Ali v George Foreman where Ali plays dead on the ropes whilst blocking shots and waiting for Foreman to tire, before launching attacks and winning. Relegation threatened QPR went to Champions elect Burnley, conceded 81% possession and won 2-1 with an 87th minute goal. Karl-Axel Zander Persson, sat on the back of the front group, hanging on, fighting to stay attached and looking like a lost cause, only to storm away at the end and solo to a crushing, emphatic victory. It’s international Rope-Doping week we tell you!

It was brilliant and we salute Karl, who had already escaped in a group of three alongside Rasio Racing’s Mark Rowbottom and Glasgow United start Alisdair McAlpine, Glasgow United also taking 4th as James Melville led home the rest.

RIAK Ladies team were back in action as Chantel Mendes took 100 points in the Ladies race with Maria Witzke and Jessica Wright adding to West London Cycling’s haul.

RGT had a major update the day before the race, which, unsurprisingly, caused a few difficulties for some people with regards having enough time to download and figure out the process, but we were delighted with 50 finishers despite the issues.

With Wouter Claes absent (he rode Liege Bastogne Liege at the weekend) Jeppe Snaever of R3R leads the championsip with team mate Jan Vana just behind whilst Glasgow United’s Alisdair McAlpine sits in third place. Maria Witzke currently leads the Ladies championship, although she has ridden more races, and the best six count. R3R are top of the Men’s Teams classification with West London Ladies leading the Ladies’ teams.
