A super fun audax style spin featuring a choice of three rides in the glorious Chilterns. Finishers will get one of our sought after patches / roundels as a trophy, all included in the (petite) price. It’s a value for money, not to be missed gala occasion celebrating West London Cycling’s first birthday; A Bank Holiday Bash brought to you by the same person responsible for the legendary May Day Chiltern Audaxes from Ruislip in years past. Expect the same fun as those, but now a British Cycling event.

This is an Audax style event and isn’t for beginners, no signage or rescue but who needs those in the era of bike computers and mobile phones? There will be free refreshments at the start and finish with a GPX file to navigate from and a Route Sheet as back up, all for just a £10 entry fee. Bring your own bars/gels etc for the ride, or stop at one of the cafes en-route. Entry may be available at £15 on the day if spaces are still available.

You can ride at any speed you like, but we would expect you to average between, say, 15kph and 33kph depending on your chosen ride / fitness / what you did the night before..

Like an audax, you get your Brevet Card stamped at our cafe stop control (100km and 200km rides only), answer a couple of simple questions on the route and write the answers in your Brevet Card (which is also stamped upon completion). At the end you get to keep your Brevet Card and also get cloth patch / roundel to prove you did it and keep as a prestigious souvenir

We will email you a GPX file of the route during the fortnight leading up to the event, together with a route-sheet for you to print out as back up. You will need a bike computer (eg Garmin or Wahoo) to load the GPX file in to. This is easily done by synching a Wahoo with Strava or Ride With GPS etc (free online) or using Garmin Connect if you are a Garmin user.

It’s fun, fun, fun with 80km, 100km or 200km options.

200km, heads out into the Chilterns heading for our cafe control at Pitstone before heading back to pass Whipsnade Zoo and take in the iconic Ivinghoe Beacon and another climb before passing the Great Train Robbery Bridge and heading west to loop Thame and head back up the Chiltern Ridge en-route back to Ruislip. About 1,900m of climbing in 200km with three significant climbs.

100km, shares the 200km route to Pitstone (cafecstop) through the Chilterns but then turns Westwards and loops back through some classic Chiltrern lansdscape and passes Wendover Woods and the Roald Dahl museum.

70km, Route is a classic Chiltern route encompassing Chesham and Hawridge before returning via  Chipperfield, no particularaly steep climbs, but nice manageable hilly terrain with some nice lanes.

The 200km Route Gallery

The 200km route heads out into the Chilterns and the Chiltern ridge before looping back to Whipsnade Zoo and then heading west into Oxfordshire on the flattest part of the route.. After that the turn for home and up the Chiltern Ridge takes in more of the lanes that make the Chilterns such a great cycling destination. There is one control at a cafe for getting your Brevet Card stamped plus a couple of simple questions to complete the card en-route in order to qualify for the all new 2023 Finisher’s Roundel (sew on patch)

The 100km Route Gallery

The 100km route seeks out a lot of picturesque Chiltern Lanes and the beautiful climb through Wendover woods to get back up into the Chilterns after a flat and fast spin on the Aylesbury Vale. This is quite a ‘lanesy’ ride and returns home via the Flushbunkingly Gloriumptious Roald Dahl Museum in great Missenden. There is one control at a cafe for getting your Brevet Card stamped plus a couple of simple questions to complete the card en-route in order to qualify for the all new 2023 Finisher’s Roundel (sew on patch)

The 70km Route Gallery

The 70km ride is for those wanting a more leisurely and less challenging ride, we have the bespoke 70km Randonax Ride with its own separate control at a cafe for getting your Brevet Card stamped plus a couple of simple questions to complete the card en-route in order to qualify for the all new 2023 Finisher’s Roundel (sew on patch). As with the other rides it is full of really nice lanes but with a suburban twist in the latter stages.
