SUNDAY RIDES: IT’s THE WEST LONDON CYCLING ANNUAL BRIGHTON VETERAN CAR RALLY RIDE ON 5th NOVEMBER … AND THERE’S A LOCAL CLUB RIDE TOO! TAKE YOUR PICK….
THERE ARE TWO SEPARATE WEST LONDON SUNDAY RIDES THIS WEEK – BRIGHTON OR BRAY IS THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT!
The Brighton Veteran Car Rally Ride or Fat Duck, FineRiding out to Bray … both are great rides but which suits you? There are videos of both below to help you choose!
One of the best West London Cycling Sunday Rides of the year, the Brighton Veteran Car Rally Ride is an experience you’ll never forget. This year it falls on Sunday 5th November. It’s a ride to Brighton and we catch the train back after Fish and Chips on the beach.
Start at 8am Polish War Memorial (There will be a shorter local ride at 9am for those not wishing to do the Brighton run)
Alternatively, at 9am there will be a regular club ride on the ever-popular Fat Duck, Fine Riding Route, flat not too far and charming … it really is a favourite!
You can choose your route on the day, (Fat Duck Fine Riding 57km or Fat Duck, Even Finer Riding 62km) and which group you ride in. We generally have several groups on the road, depending on how many people are riding, so it’s flexible and tailored to riders’ needs. The slowest group will generally wait for the slowest rider (or split into sub groups) but you should be able to manage 30kph on flat stretches with an average speed of around 22kph over the distance. Faster groups will be more speedy of course.
Just turn up at 9am at the Polish War Memorial (A40 Ruislip / Northolt) with the route downloaded on your device. To get the route you need to sign up (free – see button above to subscribe) and then you’ll have access to our routes via the members’ zone tab above (choose routes and rides).
As noted above, we decide on the day as to how many groups we split into, it really depends on who turns up. The faster groups will usually do the longer of the two options with the aim of us all reaching coffee stops at similar times
Watch the video below, and look at the gallery below to see what the Veteran Car Rally Ride all about … yeah! It’s special!
FOR THOSE NOT RIDING TO BRIGHTON, HERE’S A VIDEO OF THE LOCAL CLUB RIDE STARTING AT 9am!
