West London Cycling’s Summer Saturday Specials continue with a gravel ride for gravel riders (not too challenging so good for first timers) and a longer distance ride incorporating some disused railway lines (gravel or road bikes)
First up is the Strade Nero, which climaxes in Black Park on manageable trails, although if the weather is nice, please take care around dog walkers etc. Before that, there will be some more remote trails you were unaware of if gravel riding is new to you, but it will suit first timers. Strade Nero is on Saturday 7th June and starts at 9am from the Polish War Memorial (A40 Ruislip / Northolt).
Our second off-road extravaganza is all about disused railway lines that have been adapted for cyclists. The Grand Cycling Railroad (Soil Train) takes place on Saturday 28th June and starts from the Polish War Memorial (A40 Ruislip / Northolt) at 8am. This should be manageable on a road bike, although a gravel bike may be a slightly better option.
