START LOCATION GUIDE: HILLINGDON STATION … a great venue for your cycling adventures to begin!
West London Cycling’s scintilating summer season continues with another Bangin’ Weekend of cycling sophistication and a chance to pay your respects to one of the South of England’s great cycling characters, Jonathan O’Neil of Spoke Cycles on Saturday 27th June with a departure at 8am from Hillingdon Station. Then a nice spin out to the Thames Valley on Sunday 28th June at 8am, again, from Hillingdon Station (UB10 9NR)
We had already scheduled the Saturday ride before Jonathan’s untimely death and the fact that it coincides with the day after his funeral is pure coincidence. But we should make this a tribute ride because we have had great times with Jonathan in recent years.

The Soil Train Ride is partially off road, you won’t need a gravel bike as the ‘off road’ sections are on hard packed cycle routes based on old railway lines. The cafe, Spoke, is one of the greatest cycling cafes in Southern England. This is a classic route and a chance to pay tribute to the creator of Spoke, Jonathan O’Neil.
It all starts at 8am from Hillingdon Station (UB10 9NR) on Saturday 27th June
132km 979m ascent

THEN, ON SUNDAY 28th JUNE IT’s a THAMES VALLEY WHIZZ! Le Veloduct at 9am from Hillingdon Station (UB10 9NR)

MEMBERSHIP AND THE SUNDAY RIDES ARE FREE OF CHARGE.
Another classic Sunday Ride from the West London Cycling archives … LE VELODUCT ROUTES … 9am Sunday 28th June from Hillingdon Station (UB10 9NR) … Free to ride, free membership and free spirit!
SUNDAY 28th JUNE at 9am:
A brisk and bubbly flat and fun spin thing, Le Veloduct is a Thames Valley classic route brought to you by West London Cycling.
Cafe stop at Burnham Beeches.
We split into different speed groups on the road, depending on how many people are riding, so it’s flexible and tailored to riders’ needs. The slowest group will generally wait for the slowest rider (or split into sub groups) but you should be able to manage 30kph on flat stretches with an average speed of around 22kph over the distance. Faster groups will be more speedy of course.
GROUP RIDING: If you are new to club riding, West London Cycling is a great club to get into it with. Before you start, why not learn a few of cycling’s protocols and etiquettes? It’ll help you slot in and feel at home from the get-go!
