THREE OR FOUR DAY STAY (Start Day 1 or Day 2) Staying in Oudenaarde
Riders will need to make their own arrangements with regards to transport and accommodation – we have set out the options below. Anticipated costs €120 per night twin room plus petrol and a return ferry crossing. Costs will vary per individual depending on room sharing and car sharing. You need to bring your own bike (Although Bike Hire may be available)

ROUTES
The concept is that you have a choices, two days’ riding the iconic bergs (3 nights), or three days riding (plus a short ride en-route on day one) and conquer all 25 bergs in Simon Warren’s Hellingen book / App.. In both cases, upon arrival in Oudenaarde, a visit to the Tour of Flanders Cycling Museum is deemed essential!

HOTELS
Hotel Leopold is our preferred hotel as it is where the rides start and has good parking outside. It is used to having cyclists and is not far from the Town Square Restaurants and the Flanders Cycling Museum.
De Rantere Town Centre – no parking available but you can probably park outside the Leopold

There are several buildings for hire in the area for cycling groups. This usually requires sharing rooms with more than one other person and are not generally close to the town centre and restaurants.

FERRIES & TUNNEL
Although Dunquerque is nearer our destination than Calais, the ferry crossing takes longer as a consequence, so we are not convinced that it makes a lot of difference …. Some of us are on P&O 06.55 depart Thursday morning and return P&O 19.00 Monday evening.
BY TRAIN
Eurostar make it difficult to take bikes on their trains these days, however, if you are able to hire a bike in Oudenaarde then the train may be an option. You could get Eurostar to either Lille or Bruxelles Midi/Zuid and get a local train to Oudenaarde. If you go from Lille, expect about an hour’s travel and you will need to change at Kortrijk. The travel from Brussels to Oudenaarde probably won’t involve changing trains and will take slightly less time, however, there will be a 40 minute extra journey on Eurostar so Lille would appear to be quicker.
