Another Saturday – Sunday double header weekend with West London

SATURDAY 18th JULY (8am): A climber’s delight with a ride out to Barhatch Lane and Combe Lane for two classic climbs, oterwise a fairly flat route.

SUNDAY 19th JULY (9am): A fairly flat ride with only a couple of manageable uphill’s.

SATURDAY

The Barhatch Bitch is a great chance to go and climb Barhatch Lane, a classic climb so often missed by people who don’t get beyond Box Hill. It has featured in the Tour of Britain and features in lists of great British Climbs. We will also embrace Combe Lane on the return leg but other than that, it is a fairly flat ride.

SUNDAY

As we have a climbers’ special on Saturday we are going for a fairly flat spin Sunday 19th July on the West End Whirl route. Start at 9am from Hillingdon Station.

Despite being fairly flat, the two climbs you’ll spot on the profile below, are Crimp Hill and Berry Hill.

SUNDAY 19th JULY at 9am:

A unique route deesigned by West London Cycling which spins out to the Thames Valley.

Cafe stop at West End Farm Cafe, Warfield.

We split into different speed groups on the road, depending on how many people are riding, so it’s flexible and tailored to riders’ needs. The slowest group will generally wait for the slowest rider (or split into sub groups) but you should be able to manage 30kph on flat stretches with an average speed of around 22kph over the distance. Faster groups will be more speedy of course.

GROUP RIDING: If you are new to club riding, West London Cycling is a great club to get into it with. Before you start, why not learn a few of cycling’s protocols and etiquettes? It’ll help you slot in and feel at home from the get-go!

WEST END WHIRL – 79km 503m ascent
